its been going on for a long while that us humans have a major role causing global warming to us and animals. we have a great impact on earth but in an unhelpful way. unfortunately, things have been changing slowly in our world in an unsatisfied way, which left us wondering and trying to figure out ways to prevent global warming happening to our world for our own good and health. Biodiversity is very important to every living creature on this planet. Everything is consistent and every species is influenced by a whole different species. so why are we the greatest cause of global warming?
There are natural cycles that are very responsible for current global warming which makes ways to reduce global warming decrease.
the primary natural causes of global warming are:
Volcanic Eruptions:
Large volcanic eruptions can cause a lot of dust in the sky, which creates a shield to solar radiation and causes a cooling trend in the atmosphere.
Sunspots:
Changes in the Earth's solar radiation levels can have some impact on the Earth's climate. Increased solar activity can cause short-term warming cycles on the Earth.
The Wobbly Earth:
As the Earth spins, it does not achieve perfect rotation. It actually wobbles slightly, which exposes the northern and southern latitudes to more and less solar radiation. For many millions of years now, This wobble in the Earth's rotation has been causing changes in the temperature of the atmosphere.
But humans are a more dangerous cause of global warming.
concentrations of greenhouse gases build up in the Earth’s atmosphere, and create a “greenhouse,” or warming effect. global warming is the increase temperature of the Earth's atmosphere, and also causes climate change. Carbon dioxide is a great cause of global warming, and us humans are the ones that produce that cause. Carbon dioxide is released from power plants, cars, airplanes, buildings, etc. All of these activities rely on the use of fossil fuels. Burning of these fuels releases carbon dioxide. deforestation is also the second principle cause of atmospheric carbn dioxide, trees and plants have the job of taking in carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen to the atmosphere, but by cutting down trees, carbon dioxide rises into the atmosphere.
How does climate change and our human ways affect biodiversity?
Changes in temperature, precipitation, and other environmental conditions, can kill many species.
We humans pollute rivers, lakes, and oceans. we are slowly harming our planet to the point where organisms are dying at a frightening rate. The Exxon Valdez oil spill is one of the main hazards that cause water pollution. There are many causes of pollution such as, sewage and fertilizers containing nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates which over stimulate the growth of aquatic plants and algae. These plants use up dissolved oxygen as they decompose, block light to deeper water, and also clog our waterways. pollution also occurs when rain washes off all the dirt, silt, and urban areas, then goes into rivers, lakes, and oceans. When these sediments enter water, fish respiration becomes damaged, plant capacity and water depth become reduced, and aquatic organisms and their environments become suffocated. the main forms of water pollution are petroleum, radioactive substances, and heat. petroleum is a cause of water pollution because of oil spills, the large accidental amount of petroleum cause pollution along shore lines. One ton of oil is spilled for every million tons of oil transported, this is equal to about 0.0001%. radioactive substances produces from nuclear power plants, and from industrial, medical, and scientific use of radioactive materials. specifically mining and refining cause metals like uranium and thorium that also cause pollution to the water. Heat causes increasing in temperature which kills many aquatic organisms.
Polar Bears at risk?
Polar Bears are threatened by global warming. Even though they are on top of the food chain, they struggle to hunt their prey. Ice caps are melting because of climate change, which leaves the bears struggling to reach their prey. If this keeps going sooner or later Polar Bears are gonna be extinct, lacking of food will make them to thin and eventually die. Temperature in the Arctic rises twice as much than other places around the globe, and it is threatening to place the entire Arctic ecosystem in jeopardy. Global warming in the Arctic is not only affecting polar bears but also shelter and transportation for seals, walrus, arctic foxes, and the Inuit people. Polar bears habitat is under a blanket of our climate crisis. Greenhouse gases are a greater threat to polar bears than any other threat they face.
Our world is going out of control. There is plenty to do, but little have we done to save our planet. It is feared that human activity is causing massive extinctions. The costs associated with vanishing ecosystems will be high. Many species of ecosystems in parts of the world are standing on thin ice. Time is fleeting, lets help to save out planet and not wait until tomorrow.

Hey Lara:)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with what you were trying to bring across to our bio class. The fact that we as humans are carelessly littering, polluting and useing harmful things such as green house gases, we are sub-conciously killing our enviornment and adding a great amount of stress on top of the global warming that is already occuring on a day to day basis. As well as effecting our earth, we are killing off the nutrients that create and keep our wildlife healthy, such as the sewage and fertilizers that contain nutrients such as nitrates and phosphate that could be used to over stimulate the growth of aquatic plantlife.
Just by changing our unhealthy habits related to our enviornment, we could help make this world a better place to live on.
Great job, keep on blogging :)
Hey Lara,
ReplyDeleteDoing the same topic as you, based on global warming, I understand where you are coming from with global warming. We are the reason behind global warming, the sun spots, the pollution and the effects and outcomes that have come from our mistakes. It is very important we do something today as a first step to delay the process of global warming. You did a very good job and I really like your pictures. Keep up the good work! <3
